CPSP K is designed to equip learners with knowledge, practical skills and attitudes that enable them perform duties as buyers, supply chain managers, supervisors directors, or consultants for an organization. To achieve this, units such as Entrepreneurship, Costing and Budgeting, Finance, Leadership, Governance and Project Management and core Supply Chain Management subjects are offered. The entire CPSP K comprises four parts including a research paper. The program concerns application of procurement and supply principles and solving supply chain challenges in the contemporary dynamic environment.

KISEB registration renewal (CPSP-K for ksh 1,500 & APS-K for ksh 1,200) must be done annually within the first 3 months of the year. Failure to renew registration will prevent you from sitting for the exams until renewal is done. Failure to renew registration for 3 consecutive years may lead to removal from the students register. Reinstatement to the student register requires payment for reinstatement fee (ksh 5,500) and  all arrears of registration renewal fee.

How many sections can I do at a time?

1 only. You cannot combine sections e.g. 1 and 2 and sit for the exams at the same period. A student who fails some papers at a lower level will take a minimum of  three papers including the failed ones in the previous levels.

Is there a time period required to finish these papers once I register?

KISEB requires you re-sit the failed papers within 2 years else you will be required to re-sit the entire section even for those papers you had passed. Also it gives you 4 years to complete all written exams.

How much do I  pay for the exams?

Do I attend classes or self-study?

There are two options available, you can pay for the exams and then pay for tuition from colleges offering the classes or you can pay for the exams and self study.

Well that’s up to you, amount of money you plan to spend, time available and availability of colleges in your area. On initial exam registration you will be provided with a booklet containing the areas you are required to cover in each unit. Please note that these are just topics on areas to study and not actual notes.

When should I submit examination entry form?

Registration and exam entry deadline for April exams is 15th March, August exams is 30th June and December exams is 30th September.

What are the minimum number of units can I take in each section?

However, you should note there are some core units in each section that cannot be exempted

Are there exemptions in APS K?

Exemptions may be granted on paper by paper basis to registered students who are holders of qualifications/certifications recognized by KNQA and KISEB.

Exam Centres?

Since KASNEB administers the exams most of their exam centres are used, but you will be required to liaise with KISEB to register for the center of choice. So exam centers are many and are well distributed within the country. Check here.

Are the exams hard?

When you are equipped with the right study materials and sufficient effort is applied in your study, you are guaranteed to pass. You can check the exam structure for CPSP-K and APS-K.

Can I withdraw from exams?

Yes, an application for withdrawal should be accompanied by a letter quoting the students registration number, preferred exam centre and reason(s) for withdrawal and sent to KISEB. Students who withdraw for exams before the late exam entry dates are entitled to 50% refund of the exam entry fee paid. Students who withdraw on account of illness are entitled to a 75% of the exam entry fee paid but must produce an authentic medical certificate covering the examination dates.

Can I defer my exam fees to the next period?

Yes, you can defer exam fees to the subsequent exam sitting once in a particular level or part upon application and provision of sufficient reasons for deferment.

Successful deferment requires payment of an administrative charge of 15% the exam fees 30 days before the exam period, failure to which the deferment period will lapse.

What happens if an absent for an exam?

If you are absent without a valid reason, you will forfeit the exam fee paid.

When are results released?

Release dates can be closely correlated to CPA release dates.

Are there certificates?

Yes, for each section completed successfully. An overall certificate is also issued when you complete and pass all the sections and project.

What’s the relationship between KASNEB and KISEB?

KISEB sets the syllabus, exams and marks them while the role of KASNEB is just to administer (provide venues, issue scripts, invigilate etc) the exams. As a student, you may not be required to contact KASNEB since your relationship is with KISEB and KISEB has the relationship with KASNEB.

Exemptions are available, and if possible please apply for them to reduce waste of time and energy this allows you to focus on the other units more effectively. KISEB requires original transcripts to grant exemptions and a score of at least 50% (C) on the subject to be exempted.

However, you should note there are some core units in each section that cannot be exempted

Note: To apply for an exemption, you should collect a CPSP-K exemption mapping form from KISEB. The exemption mapping form includes the name of the unit you wish to exempted and topics under that unit. You should also provide a stamped copy of the course outline of the unit you wish to be exempted from the institution( e.g. university) you attended.  The course outline should have at least 70%  coverage of the topics in the mapping form. Exemption fees payable are not refundable, once an exemption is unsuccessful you will be required to pay exam entry fee for the said unit if you wish to pursue it in that sitting.
